Jun 2011: I/O 2011 - Sessions, Ideas, and Future
Android, Google AJAX APIs, Google App Engine, Google Chrome Extensions, Google Web Toolkit, e.g. Google Calendar API
Well folks, Google I/O 2011 has been and gone and what a fantastic event it was. What’s more – and even better – is that all the sessions are available online. From Developer Tools to Android, from App Engine to Google Apps Scripting, from APIs to GWT, there is something for everyone.
This month’s meetup, on Monday 6th June, is to reflect on the sessions, and share thoughts and ideas as to what the next 12 months will hold. The projector should be available for us to watch one of the sessions online. Then we’ll retire to a local drinking establishment (Common, Mini-Marble, etc) to discuss further.
Looking forward to seeing you there!

September 2010
Android, Google App Engine, Google Visualization API
Theme: Physical Book Annotation Project (Next Steps) and Google Visualization APIOk, so we got a little distracted (in a nice way) by Android App Inventor, and hacking on our Android-powered phones, but this time it's coding for real! We didn't quite make our first QR code and first book scan - perhaps we'll do it this time. And everyone seems to be bringing their laptops this time, so get ready for some serious fun, or some serious design and coding. Or are they the same thing? In case we get bored, I've also been looking at the Google Visualization API, and unless anyone has anything they'd prefer to speak about or hear, I don't mind forcing your attention on this beautiful little set of data-orientated eye-candy utilities.Be there!

August 2010
Android, Google App Engine, Android App Inventor
Theme: Physical Book Annotation Project (Next Steps) and Android App InventorFollowing on from last month's meeting, where we defined the project, created a project on Google Code Hosting, and started coding, we'll take the next steps and see if we can't get something working for our first book, and our first QR code. Thing is, which book should it be? After all, it'll be a great honour, an historic moment, perhaps! What's more, I have been lucky enough (thanks to the GTUG organisers at Google) to have gained early access to the fantastic looking Android App Inventor, so it'll be worth coming along for an early play with this stuff.Nice!
