With the Dart platform, you can write code that runs on servers and in modern web browsers. Dart compiles to JavaScript, so your Dart web apps will work in multiple browsers (not just ours).

The Dart platform includes a language, libraries, an editor, a virtual machine (VM) for both servers and browsers, and a compiler to JavaScript.

The talk will be given by Shannon Behrens, a Googler visiting from Mountain View.

The Global Android Dev Camp is a collection of events taking place on the weekend February 18th, 2012. Android developers from all over the world come together at more than 30 locations and hack for 48 hours! Globally, hundreds of developers are expected - from Berlin, Bremen and Dusseldorf, to Warsaw and Paris, to Brazzaville, Kyoto and San Diego. Join us in Dublin!

• Panel discussion on Ruby on Rails, Python and node.js for web development. The panel will discuss the differences between the aforementioned web development technologies - where they are most appropriate, what their limitations are, when you might consider to move to one etc. The panel will comprise of:

Clojure, HTML5 demos.

The Dublin GTUG will run a HTML5 hackathon on August 6/7 2011.

The event will run from 10am to 7pm on both Sat 6th and Sun 7th August; it will take place in AOL in Kilmainham.

The event will focus on developing novel web applications with an emphasis on using some of the newer features of HTML5 such as offline access, notifications, websockets, geolocation/device orientation, etc.

As is usual with hackathons, it will be up to the people involved to determine what they want to work on; there will be a loose structure in which we try to identify interesting projects and allocate people to teams (based on people's interests, obviously). The teams will then set to work and will have a show and tell on Sun eve.

Spaces will be limited to 30 people, so please don't sign up unless you are seriously planning on attending - if your plans change, please let us know so we can let someone else participate.

This session will comprise of the following:

• Talk on the Google Predication and Storage APIs
• Panel discussion on the relationship between hackerspaces and the formal education system

During this session, there will be a set of lightning talks given by students on their final year projects. We have focused more on cool students doing cool things, rather than students working specifically on Google related projects.

Following on from our shorter December Android hacking session, we're having a longer one which will hopefully result in a couple of proper apps coming out of it. Note that the session will not be exclusively Android focused - we probably need some backend guys to make cool stuff too.
