Google I/O 2012, the 5th annual Google Developer conference was live again. As expected, this year's event was very exciting, astonishing and revealing.

Day 1 Keynote focused on Android, Google+ and a surprise live demo of Google Glass by Sergey Brin (Google co-Founder).

Session #1 would discuss on how to leverage on Google to Docs to easily collaborate with your team members, embed Googlde docs on your website and easily create online forms and add to your websites. 

After session #2, you would be able to easily add your Google favourite products on your website including search, Google Translate, spreadsheet, etc.

 

 

This session is a training on Get Nigeria Business Online (GNBO) launched by Google in 2011. It discusses on how to easily set up and launch a website  for small and medium enterprises using Google's tools provided in the GNBO initiative. The presenter is Mr. Chukwuemeka Afigbo, Google's Outreach Program Manager, Sub-Saharan Africa.

The session will discuss on the journey of GWT and how to use it in developing very rich web applications comparable to those of desktop.

The session focuses on Android App Development practical tutorial on how to develop Android Apps.

The session would discuss on using Google Maps API and local content for developing applications related to the forth coming Nigerian election.Adding local content on Google Maps would also be discussed using Google MapMaker.

The meeting would discuss on the Android Mobile platform, its potentials and why it matters. It will feature a demo of an android based E-Voting system and a showcase of the Nigerian initiated Android Tablet (Encipher Tablet)

Session 1: Building Interactive Charts with Google Visualization API
Discussion on how to leverage Google Visualization API to quickly build rich and interactive charts for your websites.

Session 2: Using the Google Maps API
Google Maps overview and using the Maps API to build map functionalities in you websites.

This meeting will discuss in detail how to install setup GWT and App Engine using Google Eclipse plugin. A sample application will be demonstrated and uploaded to the Google App Engine. 

After the event, participants will be able to register for App Engine account and host an application using GWT and Google App Engine with Eclipse.

The first meeting for the Abuja GTUG held at Abuja International Conference Center with 10 people in attendance. 

The agenda of the meeting was on Google Technologies overview, what they offer and how to leverage on them to build large scale with minimum effort, resources and time.

The first part of the meeting discussed on some of the Google Technologies including Google Maps API, GViz API, Youtube APIs, Google Web Toolkit and lots more.

To give a more comprehensive overview and real example of large scale application built with Google Technologies, the second part of the meeting showed a video from Google I/O 2009, Building Applications with Google APIs by Ray Cromwell.
