Singapore Google Technology User Group, hosted at http://sg-gtug.org/,is the Singapore Chapter of the global Google Technology User Groups(https://gtugs.org/).SG-GTUG is a Singapore-based non-profitdevelopers group to learn, share and know more about Googletechnologies. The group was started by a group of Google fans andenthusiasts who are interested in using Google's evolving technologiesand APIs. The membership is open to developers, managers andorganizations who use at least one of Google's technologies as part oftheir projects. SG-GTUG's vision is to be the first-stoptop-notch Google developer group in Singapore where individual andcorporate developers can interact with, and learn and share from oneanother.In order to reach our vision, SG-GTUG's mission is tomake available various channels for the developers to interact. Ourchannels would be both virtual and real. We are building a strong webpresence through many of the leading social networking websites andtools. In addition, we plan to organize regular developer events wheredevelopers can showcase their products and interact with otherdevelopers.

In this meetup we will discuss some of the recently announced developments in Google AppEngine at Google I/O 2011 in greater depth. The main speaker will be Ikai Lan from Google HQ (you can get an idea of his involvement from his blog on App Engine). Ikai is currently working in the Developer Relations group at Google, focused on Google App Engine. Prior to Google, he worked as a software engineer building social and mobile applications at LinkedIn. Ikai is an avid technologist, consuming volumes of material about new programming languages, frameworks or services. The format of this meetup will consist of an initial tutorial-style session, followed by a short break and then a coding session. In order to make best use of the second session, please bring along a laptop with the appropriate App Engine SDK installed. SG-GTUG 10th Meetup - Hackathon with App Inventor for Secondary School Students Android, App Inventor 16 attendees more... 16 secondary three students (15 from Zhonghua Secondary School and 1 from Raffles Girls Secondary School) were attached from 30 May 2011 to 3 June 2011 with the Mobile Security Group of the Institute for Infocomm Research. During the 1 week’s program, these young minds were exposed to the field of mobile application development on a leading smartphone platform - Android. The students used AppInventor from Google labs and visually developed the application without writing even a single line of code. First, the students were exposed to AppInventor introductory lectures and hands-on session for 2 days. Then, the students in groups of 3, designed 5 different applications all by themselves - 2 games, 1 quiz and 2 user applications.
