Google Maps API Code Lab
GDG Kampala is organising a code lab to show software developers how to use the Google Maps API on the web. Google maps can be used to build innovative websites right from a map showing Gorilla trekking routes in the Mgahinga mountains to a map showing places where significant events happened in Uganda over the last 50 years. Google Maps has a wide array of APIs that let you embed the robust functionality and everyday usefulness of Google Maps into your own website and applications, and overlay your own data on top of them. We believe the code lab will help us come up with such interesting applications. Please express your interest to attend by registering at http://goo.gl/iupsL

The Global Android Dev Camp takes place from February 17th to 19th, 2012. Android developers from all over the world come together at more than 50 locations and hack for 48 hours - nonstop! Globally, about 1,000 developers are expected - from Berlin, Munich and Dusseldorf, to Warsaw and London, to Africa, Kyoto and San Diego. There are no restrictions whatsoever, apart from the focus on Android. No matter whether the participants are working on individual projects or in a team; whether the project teams are collaborating at one location or are creating virtual project teams of various regions and nations. The participants share their intermediate results and experiences via G+ hangouts (video chats), conference calls, or shared documents to mark their progress, support each other and hopefully share the fun they are having. At the end of the hackathon the participants present their projects and the audience choses a winning project. After the event, the results of the hackathon as well as photos and videos will be made available to all participants and everyone else interested.
