What do we mean? Just what is the theme of this HACK?

We’ve decide to stay away from a theme and instead see how teams arrive at their solution instead. Yes we are weighting less on your end result and more on the journey you took to build it itself!

Ok so what are we going to ‘journey’ to build for goodness sakes???

We have absolutely no clue! It would be something totally randomly picked from a Bingo cage. Every participant draws a word. You form teams by combining a minimum of 3 words and a maximum of 5 words together.

All we know is you need to build a mobile app based on the words that you put together.

The rising of the G-economy: When gaming meets the real world Games and apps user experiences offer new innovative ways for brands and retailers to engage with audience during their game plays. Several top international brands already partnered with successful apps to introduce real products offers such as coupons as reward for in game achievement. A few startups are now trying to buid a scalable model to allow retailers to do that on thousands of different apps with a single campaign. It is a huge opportunity of monetization for developers who could become an effective customer acquisition channel for brands. The conference will show some interesting business cases and give an overview of the Beintoo's mobile loyalty platform, a monetizaton tool for mobile developers to reward their users with real world offers Navigating the Android Appstores Maze There are tons of Android appstores out there in the world, and every store represent their own unique opportunity. Especially in emerging markets where Google Play underserves, there is a whole lot of Android appstores around that Android developers can work with to reach out to customers. However, every appstores have their own policy, SDK and requirements on the developers, and that adds a big challenge in development, for localization, integration, support and subsequently publishing in every single market. This session will talk about how some games have worked around this issues and how MoVend can come in to help developers get out of the Android Appstore Maze.

The Global Android Dev Camp takes place from February 17th to 19th, 2012. Android developers from all over the world come together at more than 30 locations and hack for 48 hours - nonstop! Globally, about 1,000 developers are expected - from Berlin, Munich and Dusseldorf, to Warsaw and London, to Brazzaville, Kyoto, San Diego and Kuala Lumpur.The goal of the global hackathon is to bring together Android communities spread around the world. The global hackathon offers them the opportunity to share knowledge and experiences; to jointly test and evolve existing products and solutions; and to create completely new applications, tools, etc.And, last but not least, it is also simply about having loads of fun among like-minded people.

Annual Google DevFest event in Kuala Lumpur that brings over Google engineers that work on various Google developer APIs.

This month we will be talking about security in Android applications. A special appearance of a cloud-running Android robot!

 

The goal is to have developers building applications atop the Google App Engine platform. The event will include presentations on the major new features of Google App Engine and how to mashup App Engine with other web services.

Ikai Lan from Google Developer Relations team will be on hand to help and to answer questions throughout the event. You will also be supported by the developers from the community.

 

It's part viewing party, part commune event for developers and people who are deeply interested in Google technologies and developer APIs. You get to mingle with the coolest developers from all around Malaysia (and Singapore apparently), share ideas and thoughts with each other, and most importantly, together we will be watching the live keynote from Moscone West, San Francisco, USA. Expect to hear something really good from Vic Gondutra, VP of Engineering from Google.
