YouTube today is much more than just a video hosting site. Using Google Data APIs and YouTube Player APIs, developers can harness the power of world’s most popular video destination to build new and innovative applications. In this session, we will provide an overview of the YouTube API's, including uploading, sharing, searching and customized video playback capabilities. We will also drill into an example open source application - YouTube Direct - and discuss its App Engine-based design and implementation as well as YouTube Direct's mobile clients for Android and the iPhone. Since YouTube is a great channel for promoting your product/application, we will go over several elements of YouTube's design language to help you develop great content for YouTube. We'll wrap up with examples and demos of application trends with a focus on curation, recommendations, sharing and several interesting applications in mobile, social, and gaming. Learn how to get the most out of YouTube, where 48 hours of video are uploaded each minute, and over 3 billion videos are viewed every day.

Get together and team building Hacking and having fun break with pizza & coke :) Hacking and having fun presenting ideas Hacking Motto!In relation to the 20th July cross platform mobile development presentations we are having a hackathon where the participants have the chance to develop the same application with different techniques. The attendees form a team where they create a typical simple "business" App by either using PhoneGap, Titanium Appclerator or Native Java for the development.The Goal Create an App for the Zurich GTUG. The user of the App should be able see upcoming events Register to the next GTUG event Notification upon new events Read upcoming Event topics Send message to the groups ... The StepsThe GTUG Team sets up for the attendees a repository containing three "Hello World" applications (PhoneGap, Appcelerator and Native Java).The attendees use development tools such as (Java, JS, HTML5) and Google APIs e.g. (Google Sites, Google Docs and more) to reach their goals. The ResultEach team presents their application and explain the features and show code examples to other teams. 2011 Aug 23	API Roulette Hackathon Android, Google Maps APIs, e.g. Google Calendar API 14 attendees more... Zurich GTUG is proud to present the API Roulette Hackathon. The event will take place at the Googleplex in Zurich. Description of the event Everyone participating in the Hackathon will select 1 API which they are interested in. Participants then form a team of no more than 3 members for the chosen API. One the teams are created each team will then spin the API Roulette wheel to select the second API. With these two APIs the team has to create an Android Application, Web Site, or Web App combining the selected APIs.
