Google Sydney is hosting the event. Don’t bring your sleeping bags though because we only have daylight access over the weekend. You can hack-on through the night in your PJs and then return to the Google offices during the day. We appreciate Googlers giving up their weekend to support this event.

As recently announced on the Android blog, Australian developers can now sell paid apps on Android marketplace. Given that news and the growing increase of Android phones available in Australia, we want to make sure that Australian developers know how to develop apps and understand the marketplace system. 

We are bringing down two Android developer advocates, Tony Chan and Ken Liu, and they will be speaking at two events in Sydney during their short stint here:

An introduction to Go by Rob Pike. Yes, that Rob Pike. Or for those too young to remember:

Rob Pike is a Principal Engineer at Google, Inc. He works on distributed systems, data mining, programming languages, and software development tools. Before Google, Rob was a member of the Computing Sciences Research Center at Bell Labs, the lab that developed Unix. While there, he worked on computer graphics, user interfaces, languages, concurrent programming, and distributed systems. He was an architect of the Plan 9 and Inferno operating systems and is the co-author with Brian Kernighan of *The Unix Programming Environment* and *The Practice of Programming*. An introduction to Closure by Daniel Nadasi

The Closure Compiler is a tool for making JavaScript download and run faster. It is a true compiler for JavaScript. Instead of compiling from a source language to machine code, it compiles from JavaScript to better JavaScript. It parses your JavaScript, analyzes it, removes dead code and rewrites and minimizes what's left. It also checks syntax, variable references, and types, and warns about common JavaScript pitfalls.
