On Aug 30th (last Tuesday) at 7PM at Google Midtown Google Logan Johnson will present on Android App Assimilation.The best Android apps are those that tightly integrate with the platform and other applications. Unlike many other platforms, in Android this capability is available to any application developer; Android is designed for users to hop from app to app seamlessly and for data to be ubiquitous and shareable, not kept in silos accessible only from the home screen. In this talk we’ll take a tour of integration points available to the Android application developer. We’ll touch on opportunities to integrate tightly with the platform itself and with the built-in applications; on consuming data and services from other apps; on exposing your own app’s data and services for consumption; and on providing convenient entry points into your app itself.

Come join us for a discussion of App Engine for Business with David Hoff, VP of Technology at Cloud Sherpas.

We'll discuss native development for mobile platforms and then we'll delve into cross device development using HTML5, JavaScript, and related web technologies. We'll hit on several Google offerings along the way, such as Android and GWT, but we'll focus on using tools such as PhoneGap, Sencha, JQTouch, and more. This event will be presented by Josh Marinacci of Palm Developer Relations. 

For this month's gathering GTUG-Atlanta will discuss the Google Guava libraries for Java, Guice, and GIN/GWT. The theme here is that you can create concise, powerful Java code with these helpful libraries. Yes, I said "Java" and "concise" in the same sentence! Same place (Google Midtown, info below), 7PM Tuesday August 31st. 

An informal but informative (we hope) Open Spaces style Android gathering. Come with Android topics and questions in mind, and help make this is a successful event. 

Recap and general discussion of the big events at Google I/O. Several of the GTUG Atlanta members will be at I/O, so we'll have a high level recap, then some mini-presentations and discussion, all centering around the news at I/O. 

Our 2nd get together, same place (Google Midtown), same style. This time featuring two notable speakers: David Chandler on GWT, and Rick Thomas on Wave. As always, developer focused, and an informal open discussion session after the talks.
