The Vancouver Google Technology User Group is atechnology user group located in the Vancouver Area. The group was started by a group of Google fans and enthusiasts who areinterested in using Google's evolving technologies and APIs.

The membership is open to newbies, developers, managers andorganizations who are interested in Google's technologies or use themas part of their projects.

2011 Jul 28	Android Installfest Android more... This is an informal meetup where beginner Android developers can network and learn from each other installing the initial Android environments/SDKs. Due to the endless variations of computer and device configs, this initial setup seems to be quite a challenge in reality! Bring your laptops and (1) install Eclipse, (2) install the Android SDK, (3) install ADT, (4) set up your AVDs and/or USB drivers, and (5) set up your project build configs and compile and run the "Hello Android!" activity. There will be some assorted drinks and pizza. Please bring $10 cash to event. I'll also be bringing some getting started on android books, some NFC tags to give out, and I'll bring my new Samsung Chromebook you can try out.
2011 Jul 21	Samsung Update! Android 87 attendees more... Samsung is sponsoring this summer meetup and will be going over the latest news on Samsung mobile devices, the Android and bada platforms as well as how you can utilize their developer programs.
2011 Jan 27	Android & GTUG Meetup Android 90 attendees more... Vancouver Android Developers & Vancouver Google Technology User Group (GTUG) are joining up to have a meetup on January 27th at Wavefront's Building Conference Room at 7:00pm. Cost is $10 and includes pizza, pop and helps pay for the space. Tim Bray (http://www.tbray.org/) works at Google as a Developer Advocate, focused on Android and before that was Director of Web Technologies at Sun Microsystems. He'll be talking about the Android marketplace (now that Canadians can sell paid apps on it) and Android in general. Should be a great talk and hope to see you all out there! Some of you are on both user groups, please RSVP to ONLY ONE group!
2011 Jan 17	Wavefront - C/C++ Programming on Android Android 58 attendees more... Mike Jennings will be presenting a technical talk on programming on Android and discussing the hows and whys of “native” programming. When the Android API doesn't do what you want, or doesn't do it fast enough, you can always program with C/C++.
2011 Jan 12	Scriptable Robots Android 32 attendees more... Android is well known for its support of Java however its not really well known that it can also support a host of dynamic languages too. This talk will be a fast walk through the various language options on top of Dalvik. Brian Leroux of Nitobi Software will be giving a presentation on this topic.
