2011 Sep 28	Google+ API Google+ more... Paddy took us through the Google+ APIs that were announced this month.
2011 Jul 27	App Engine & Chrome Google App Engine, Google Chrome Extensions 4 attendees more... Last night, we did a small meetup about App Engine and Chrome extensions. We announced that Shawn won our "App Engine-powered Chrome extension" contest with his extension Bindr, and delivered his prizes: a GTUG t-shirt and a bunch of stickers and temporary tattoos from Google I/O. Shawn was kind enough to offer an in-depth tutorial on how he wrote Bindr. Being a full-featured Chrome extension, it has quite a bit to it, so Shawn covered a lot of ground about building Chrome applications. According to Shawn, the extension and App Engine backend took him about 10 hours to write. Try Bindr out, and I think you'll agree there's a lot of bang for 10 hours of work. After Shawn's presentation, we talked a bit about Google+. Now that we all had accounts, we could clear up some misconceptions, talk a bit about the mental model, and speculate about the possible developer opportunities. Our next meeting will be on August 31st, 2011, at 7pm. We'll be joined by Moishe Lettvin, the Team Leader for App Engine Communications APIs (Mail, Channels, and XMPP). Moishe has generously agreed to teleconference in a presentation on the Communications API for us. I've worked with Moishe in the past, and would highly recommend coming to see his presentation.
2011 Jun 29	Intro to Chrome Extensions Google Chrome Extensions, Google+ more... For our third meeting, we'll be talking a bit about Chrome Extensions. Seeing as Google+ was released just a day before the meeting was scheduled to occur, we'll be talking a bit about that, too. Paddy also has an account on it for us to play around with. We'll be doing an introduction to Chrome Extensions, focusing on concepts and having little to no code involved. If members would like, we can do code samples at the end.
2011 Jun 15	App Engine for Beginners Google App Engine more... The monthly meetup for Buffalo GTUG. This week, we'll be discussing development for App Engine, as well as some of the announcements from I/O.Paddy will be presenting on developing for App Engine using Python. The workshop assumes basic familiarity with Python, but should be accessible to non-Python programmers. It will cover the scope of getting a simple application running on App Engine.As always, members are encouraged to email paddy \|at\| buffalogtug.org if they'd like to speak or present at a meetup.
2011 Apr 28	Inaugural Meeting Android 12 attendees more... Our first meeting. We'll discuss what we're looking for from this group and get to know each other. We'll talk a bit about Google, eat pizza, and Paddy Foran will present on Android's SampleSyncAdapter and SyncAdapters in Android.
